Truck driver. A few years ago I moved to a different city that I had never, at the time, spent any extended time at. I like it first when I had visited months prior. So I decided to move and start anew. Knowing nobody, I of course made way to public spots, libraries, bookstores, coffee shops, and bars. Started making friends and became settled and content. But not being out at the time, I had to play my cards right, as back then. Early 90's, ignorance and tolerance was not so widely accepted. I was working in the bar business and never gave any indication that I am gay. But if someone was to ask, I did not hide it.
On one occasion, a new guy started to come by and just hang out at the bar. He would never partake in the rest of the crowd. One of his infrequent visits I introduced myself and we started chatting. He was from up north and was a truck driver for a food delivery company. He came to Texas every two weeks. About 5'9", muscular, shoulder length curly blonde hair. Always a slight face scruff. He would park his truck near our property and just walk over to the bar. Our conversations grew and became good talkers to each other. He had said that on his next visit it would be on a different day due to schedule move and wanted to know if I was going to be working that day and I was not. He asked if I would show him around town and we could go grab something to eat. I said yes, and I gave him my number. He called me the day before and asked if we were still on, which I replied yes.
We agreed that he would park in the same spot and I would come by and pick him up. Just so happens on the day he was coming in, a bad storm had set in. He called me to let me know what time he would be ready and if I would mind if he could use my bath because he was wet after making his drop. I drove to his truck. He rushed out to my car and got in. Poor guy was drenched with about 10 lbs of rain water. He was very fit and his clothes were soaked. Apologizing for getting my seats wet, I said it's vinyl. Won't hurt nothing. Got to my place and we went inside. He asked if my wife or girlfriend was home and I replied that I lived alone. Single and gay. I stated he was safe jokingly. He looked a bit confused and stated. What? I am not good enough for you? I laughed and said I don't push myself on people. Showed him the restroom, the fresh towel, his own new bar of soap and other stuff.
I sat on the sofa watching tv, he came out after 15 mins. Fully dressed saying he was ready. We went to a friends steak house and had a great meal. Discounted at the that. He had mentioned that he did not have much per-diem to spend. I mentioned to relax, I got the bill. My guest. We had great conversation. He mentioned that he was married but going through a rough patch and was working as much as he could to keep his mind sane.
As we were finishing up he had mentioned that sleeping in his cab was going to be noisy to the rain and wind. I offered my spare room if he wanted, clean, fresh sheets, new bedding. I joked saying the door locked as well so he would not be uncomfortable in a strange environment. I don't think he found that part funny. He stated clearly that he was not bothered that I am gay and that most all men experiment when they are young. That is all he said and nothing more followed.
We walked out to car in the rain, and it seemed to have picked up more strength. He said he did not need to go back to his truck for anything. We pull up to my place and go inside. I went into the restroom, grabbed a towel and walked out drying myself off. He said he had a pee. He walked and closed the door. I asked loudly if he wanted a beer and he said yes. The door opens and I hear him walk out, I turn with the beer in my hand to pass to him. He stood in front of me shirtless, still drying himself off.. Continued Truck driver in the rain 2.
