Bang, Bang. It never happens as you imagine things. Watch a video, hear a story, or just daydream.. It is always a different outcome. What are you to do? I decided to just go with it.
I was at Barnes and Nobles looking at handgun magazines. Sitting in the cafe' area drinking a coffee. Tee, shorts, and tennis shoes. Nothing special. Enjoying my Sunday. I called a buddy to reference a gun I had just seen and was interested. We chatted discreetly for a couple of minutes. Not bothering anyone. I ended our call and went back to reading. I hear a voice behind me state "There are better firearms than the one you spoke of." I turned around and the guy sitting behind me says afterwards "Sorry, was not ease dropping. Just overheard your conversation and I have many firearms." I smiled and said that I was looking for something for personal protection at home and to carry when needed. He stood up and extended his hand out. I stood up and we introduced ourselves. He asked if he could sit with me and I said yes. He stood about 6'11", fit, cut jaw line. Dressed for the day, nothing special. And a nice watch. That to me tells a lot about a person. He informs me that he was in the military for several years and has training. Collects guns for sport, hobby, and protection.
He asked me various questions about what I was wanting in a pistol. I said in a funny response. Looks. I want it to look good. Almost like a accessory. He said he has some that he bought for just that reason. Showed me some photos on his phone of his vast collection. And on accident, a few family photos popped up. He, for some reason, apologized. I said why apologize, beautiful family. He explained that he is recently divorced after 19 years of marriage. Spoke briefly about it and went back to guns. We sat for a good hour or so and I said I need to excuse myself and go check on my business. He handed me a business card with his personal number on it and asked me to call him someday and he would show me his collection at his house if I was interested. I shook his hand and thanked him for his time and information. When I got to my car, I sent him a text with my business card and thanked him again. Went on about my day.
A few hours that night, he sent me message saying he enjoyed meeting me and would very much enjoy me to coming to see his collection adding that the friends he has only want to try and comfort him from his divorce. Adding it would be a nice change of pace to have a neutral person to speak to. I told him ok, we can later. My schedule is usually open, just let me know.
His card shows that he does gravel and land work covering most of the Texas area. Said if I wanted to, I could bring my wife or girlfriend too and if she had a friend, that would be great and laughed. I told him I am not married and single. No girlfriend or boyfriend. His response was not as quick as the previous, so I assumed he lost interest. I went on doing my routine and not let it bother me. 30 minutes or so he responds and sent a message that he was doing dishes and then took a shower. "Okay, sorry if I offended you. Just let me know if you want to still come over." He texted. I responded back that I don't offend easy. I said that I am interested let me know when and we will go from there. He gave me a couple of dates that he could be available. We set a time and he texted me his address.
Well that day came up, Sunday, and I sent him a message this morning to confirm that we were still on for 6pm. He said yes. Out of safety I gave the address to my best friend and told him what was going on. And he can track my phone. Plugged in the address to my GPS and he was about 25 minutes away. An area of San Antonio I have not been too. Pulled up to his home and I must say it is a nice place. A big pickup was parked in the driveway. I walked up to the door and knocked. Nice Wreath
Continued. Bang, Bang. 1/2
